SANDRACING REPORT 22/08/2009

It was back to normal for the Rive twins in this the 9th meeting of the season with

Billy-Reece taking 5 wins even through he had injured his leg after hitting one of the larger cones & falling off once. Ricky-Lee Rive & Jordan Palmeri were the other winners whilst Billy Russell & Josh Lambourne were as competitive for the lower placing.

Eddie Goracy having injured himself at the last meeting & having won the 250cc Adult bike class had decided not to ride this meeting so this left only 5 sliders on the beach. English rider Daniel Winterton dominated the meeting taking 6 wins from 6 races whilst there was a good battle all afternoon between Dave Cleal & Darren Clarke & though Dave seemed to have the upper hand Darren did mange to gain the win in the Committee Cup race. Colin Teed out with a new bike was suffering problems all afternoon.

Having modified his racing car by welding metal protection bars between the front & rear wheals Simon Carre was able to join the other 7 saloon cars that were present. Lisa Robilliard having won the production class up to 1400cc  allowed her partner Mark Le Page out for a number of races but he found the back end very twitchy, only when putting back onto their transporter did they notice a broken track arm.. Bill Cohu took all 3 championship race wins for production cars 1401-1800 from a hard charging Eric Trump desperate to make up points on the 2 drivers ahead of him in the championship, Mike Bichard took 3rd spot whilst Paul Stanford currently 2nd in the championship kept his very sick Toyota Corolla running for one more meeting to kept just ahead of Eric in the championship table. Shaun Leigh, John Le Page & Mark Ozanne all in separate classes were racing mainly just for fun. With the usual lap recorders/handicappers away on holiday it was left to commentator John Bichard & his partner Victoria to sort out the handicap & it was very close at the end with Eric Trump barely a car’s length ahead of the last car to leave the start line that of Simon Carre whist Bill Cohu came in third.
