To All Members of the Guernsey Kart and Motor Club LBG.

As President, I would like to take this opportunity to explain the current situation with

regard to the speculation on hill climb events for 2017.

Contrary to belief I can confirm that we, as a Club, have not lost the September hill climb event. This one hill climb has simply been moved to a new event which is to be held at Portelet Hill in Torteval. This new event will give competitors an opportunity to try something different and will hopefully prove to be another successful tarmac event for the Club for the future. I would also like to state that the Club is in a position to apply for the September hill climb event again the following year or move it to another month in the year if required.

At the September hill climb this year, all the competitors were asked to complete a survey and the outcome of this was the reason for our decision to move one of the hill climb events to Portelet Hill. I agree that it is important to keep tradition of popular events like the hill climb but it is also good to have new events. We have no intention of getting rid of any current yearly events for the Club as they are all extremely popular and successful. The decision for this new event was made following the responses of the survey and from that we simply had to find an accommodating date with the States to put this event in place.

Because of the good relationship the Club already has with the authorities agreeing to all our events, I am keen to keep this relationship in place and ensure that they are happy with our approach for future events without becoming too greedy and taking advantage.

As President, I am dedicated in my role to this Club and feel it's very important to bring in new ideas for all competitors/members to take part in and enjoy, especially when we are lucky enough to have new ideas approved by the States. I would also like to add that as a Committee, no decisions are taken without thought for what's best for the Club as a whole and as far as keeping details secret from anyone, this is not our intention at all. As you will understand, there is a process we must follow to get

ideas authorised before we can make them public knowledge.

Please note that from the 28th August until 7th October 2017 there are 6 tarmac

events planned for members of the Club.

I hope the above clarifies everyone's queries, but should you have any further

questions please contact me on 07781 401544.

Thank you.

Karl Marshall

President
