AUTOTEST REPORT
January 18th 2009.
With an excellent entry of 10 competitors the afternoon promised to be an exciting affair. Two first time entrants, Trevor Breton and Dean Leaver, borrowed Peter Jory’s Honda Civic and drove as if they had competed in autotests many times before, not being afraid to throw the car around; Trevor looking the part in his peaked cap! With a little more care, in order not to collect penalty points they should soon be placing higher up the leader board.
Dave Williams ( Mr Nasty) retired in the Suzuki after suffering numerous amounts of brain fade.( Nothing to do with the Kart Club Dinner the night before ? Was it the food or the drink!).
Eric Trump did not drive to form in his Metro, splitting the Ford Ka drivers of Shaun Leigh and Mike Bichard into 5th and 7th places. After test 8, Shaun was in fact in third place, but exuberance took over and he collected penalty points and a wrong test to finish further down the board. Peter Jory finished in 4th place after demolishing a sign post at the side of Alliance car park.
Driving the Suzuki automatic because his left foot was in plaster, Scott Rayson finished in an exceptional third place after a nail biting last test when he collected a 10 second penalty which could have dropped him down to fourth, but Shaun’s wrong test saved Scott’s day.
The Dorey brothers (Metro) again battled for the lead, but Martin (Bimbo) was fractionally quicker in most tests, taking the honours for the day from Peter, maintaining his championship lead in this two horse race.
